1.figure out
【原句】I'm sure we can figure this out. (S05E22)
【翻译】这事我们绝对可以解决。
【场景】Caroline向Hwang（追债人）询问了Han的欠债情况，并想通过分期方式支付，听到Hwang说出了3万美元后，Caroline跟Max都对“Han在女子网球上输了3万”表示吃惊。而一旁的Han赶紧岔开话题，想用另种方式还上欠款。
【讲解】
figure sth/sb out vt. 算出；想出；解决；理解；断定。
扩展settle（解决问题，纠纷），solve（解决问题，困难），figure out（好好的思考以理解）。
settle 指排除犹豫、怀疑和争论之后作出明确的最终结论。
solve 普通用词，含义广，指为有一定难度的问题找到满意的解法或答复。
【例句】
He's trying to figure out a way to solve the problem.
他正在努力想办法解决这个问题。
I can't figure out why he did it.
我弄不明白他为什么要那么做。
2.on the shelf
【原句】I mean, you think you need another>
【翻译】你觉得自己需要多一根脚趾头，但结果它们只是被束之高阁。

mainly UK informal（通常指女子）年龄太大而找不到对象的。
